Laboratory Tests
VTA operates laboratory equipment for wiped film and short path distillation (molecular distillation) as well as for rectification of substance mixtures.
For complex mixtures, theoretical calculations are often not sufficient to design an industrial plant or to determine the optimum process conditions for a distillation.
The results of laboratory tests form the basis for the development of processes and components. The samples will be analyzed at the VTA laboratory during the trials. The customers will receive samples of the individual fractions for analyzing in their own laboratory.
Initial feasibility studies can be performed already with raw material quantities of less than 1 kg. High-boiling, high-melting and high viscosity products can be distilled at low working pressures on VTA laboratory facilities.
Target of Laboratory Tests
- Determination of process parameters
- Determination of achievable product quality and yields
- Production of sample up to several kilograms
- Determination of the process parameters required for the toll distillation unit
- Determination of the general feasibility
- Required raw material quantities about 1 - 3 kg
- Monitoring of product properties during distillation (foaming, fouling etc.)
Pilot Tests
VTA operates pilot equipment for wiped film distillation, thin film distillation and short path distillation. In addition equipment for rectification of substance mixtures is available.
Pilot tests are used to verify and deepen the results from the laboratory tests under real production conditions. On the basis of these tests the achievable throughput, product quality and yield can be defined and guaranteed for a future industrial plant.
The samples will be analyzed at the VTA laboratory during the trials. The customers will receive samples of the individual fractions for analyzing in their own laboratory.
High-boiling, high-melting and high viscosity products can be distilled at low working pressures on VTA pilot facilities.
